The National Council for Women (NCW) successfully concluded its intensive training program titled “Researching the Priorities and Needs of Rural Women”, which ran over the course of three days in Assiut Governorate. The program aimed to equip facilitators and fieldworkers with practical research tools and a deeper understanding of the socioeconomic realities faced by women in rural communities.
The closing ceremony brought together Dr. Nesreen El-Baghdady, Deputy President of the NCW, and Nashwa Mostafa, General Director of Financial Inclusion at the Council, along with a number of female facilitators and supervisors who led the initiative in Assiut.
Empowering Rural Women
The training program was part of a broader national agenda to amplify the voices of rural women, turning them into impactful policies. Through hands-on exercises, participants learned how to conduct field research, identify community needs, and connect rural women with available state services and support mechanisms.
Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration Bridging Policy and Practice
Dr. Nesreen El-Baghdady emphasized the significance of practical tools in refining field research methodologies. She also stressed the importance of researchers being well-versed in government services and support programs, in order to serve as reliable conduits of information for rural women in need.
This capacity-building initiative is being implemented in collaboration with UN Women Egypt, and supported by key international development partners, including the European Union in Egypt and the Embassy of the Netherlands. Their joint support underscores a shared commitment to gender equality, inclusive development, and grassroots empowerment.
