NCW Committee on Small Enterprises and Entrepreneurship Reviews Next-Phase Action Plan

Mona Yousef

The Committee on Small Enterprises and Entrepreneurship of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) held its regular meeting at the Council’s headquarters, chaired by Nevine Gamea, NCW member and Committee Rapporteur. The session brought together committee members in person and via video conference to discuss upcoming initiatives and strategic priorities.

Economic Inclusion and Awareness

Opening the meeting, Nevine Gamea emphasized the importance of unified national efforts to eliminate violence against women, noting that empowerment must extend beyond protection to include awareness, education, and economic independence.

“Ending violence against women requires collaboration on all fronts — legal, psychological, social, and economic,” Gamea stated.

“By raising community awareness and investing in women’s education, training, and capacity building, we strengthen both individuals and society as a whole.”

The committee reiterated its commitment to advancing women’s entrepreneurship, particularly through initiatives that provide access to finance, digital tools, and sustainable business training.

Preparing for the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”

Members reviewed the committee’s action plan for the coming months, with a special focus on the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, which the National Council for Women organizes annually from November 25 to December 10.

Among the key proposals discussed was organizing a specialized seminar on combating economic violence against women, addressing barriers that limit women’s participation in the workforce and entrepreneurship.

A Holistic Approach to Women’s Empowerment

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the Council’s broader mission: to promote gender equality, protect women’s rights, and foster inclusive economic growth. The Committee on Small Enterprises and Entrepreneurship will continue to serve as a national platform for developing programs that enhance women’s role as key drivers of Egypt’s economic and social progress.
