The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has announced the signing of a tripartite cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) and the National Council for Women (NCW), marking a significant step toward strengthening institutional partnerships in humanitarian action, community development, and support for vulnerable groups.
The protocol signing ceremony was in the presence of Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity and Vice Chair of the Egyptian Red Crescent; Mohamed El-Etreby, CEO of the National Bank of Egypt; Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women; Dr. Sahar El-Sonbaty, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood; and Dr. Khaled Hamdy, President of Ahram Canadian University. Several other leaders from national institutions and academic bodies were also present.
The agreement also includes the launch of a humanitarian relief convoy to support Palestinians in Gaza, as part of the initiative “Egyptian Women Supporting Their Palestinian Sisters.” The move underscores the growing role of national partnerships in responding to humanitarian crises and reinforcing social solidarity across the region.
Model for Institutional Cooperation
Speaking at the event, Dr. Maya Morsy described the protocol as a model of constructive cooperation between state institutions and national organizations. She emphasized that the agreement enhances institutional partnerships and ensures the integration of efforts in humanitarian work and community development.
Morsy highlighted the Egyptian Red Crescent’s role as a key auxiliary to the state during both peacetime and crises, noting its continued efforts in responding to regional emergencies, addressing domestic disasters, promoting volunteerism, and building youth capacities.
National Bank of Egypt Reinforces Its Social Responsibility Role
Mohamed El-Etreby reaffirmed the National Bank of Egypt’s commitment to social responsibility, describing it as a core pillar of the bank’s institutional mission. He stressed that NBE consistently seeks effective partnerships with national entities working in humanitarian relief and sustainable development.
El-Etreby said the protocol reflects the bank’s belief in the importance of coordinated national efforts, particularly in supporting Gaza, empowering women, and protecting vulnerable communities. He emphasized NBE’s ongoing commitment to initiatives that generate tangible and sustainable impact, improve quality of life, and promote values of solidarity and social responsibility—aligned with Egypt’s broader sustainable development goals.
Egyptian Red Crescent: Expanding Humanitarian Impact
For her part, Dr. Amal Imam, Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, expressed pride in the organization’s strategic partnerships with national institutions. She noted that such collaborations play a pivotal role in strengthening humanitarian action, expanding community outreach, and ensuring sustainable responses to the needs of eligible and vulnerable groups.
Imam added that partnerships like this one help the Red Crescent maximize its humanitarian reach while reinforcing Egypt’s national response mechanisms during crises.
Strengthening Solidarity at Home and Beyond
The tripartite protocol reflects Egypt’s broader strategy of mobilizing public, financial, and civil society institutions to address humanitarian challenges -both domestically and regionally. By combining financial support, humanitarian expertise, and advocacy for women and vulnerable groups, the initiative signals a unified national approach to crisis response and social development, with Gaza relief standing as a central and urgent priority.
