National Council for Women Powers “She Leads” Initiative for Female Technical School Students in South Sinai

Empowering young women through education and entrepreneurship, Counselor Amal Ammar, President of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW), participated today in the “Empowering Female Entrepreneurs in Technical Schools” event at WE Applied Technology School in South Sinai.

The initiative, organized by Leaders Foundation for Youth Development in cooperation with the NCW, the Governorate of South Sinai, and in strategic partnership with Telecom Egypt (WE), falls under the umbrella of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

A Model for State-Society Collaboration

The event  brought together  Maj. Gen. Khaled Mubarak, Governor of South Sinai; MP Ahmed Fathy, Chairman of the Leaders Foundation; Dr. Enas Samir, Deputy Governor of South Sinai; and senior representatives from the Ministries of Education, Social Solidarity, and local authorities.

In her keynote, Counselor Amal Ammar emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to uplift technical school students — especially girls — and prepare them to actively contribute to Egypt’s economy.

“Today’s event reflects an inspiring model of cooperation between state institutions and civil society, working hand in hand to equip our girls with the tools they need to lead,” Ammar said.

“The She Leads program has, over the past five years, played a critical role in nurturing entrepreneurial talent among young women across Egypt’s technical education system,” she added.

Women at the Heart of Egypt’s Vision 2030

South Sinai’s unique geographic and strategic importance, Ammar noted, makes it essential to ensure girls in the region are not left behind in national development.

“Empowering women economically is not just a slogan — it’s a strategic pillar of Egypt’s National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030,” she stated.

“We are not just launching a local event; we are initiating a real step toward integrating women into Egypt’s sustainable development journey.”

Skills, Innovation, and Inclusion

The She Leads initiative works to develop practical and innovative skills in students that align with labor market demands. It also promotes an entrepreneurial mindset, facilitates networking with private-sector partners, and ensures strong community and parental engagement to create a nurturing environment for young women.

The event featured live presentations from female students, showcasing their entrepreneurial projects and engaging in direct dialogue with educators, private-sector representatives, and parents — reinforcing the students’ leadership potential and self-confidence.

Leaders Speak: Youth Are the Future

Governor Khaled Mubarak highlighted that youth — both male and female — are at the core of South Sinai’s strategy for sustainable development. He noted the vital role that technical education and entrepreneurship programs, like She Leads, play in building a skilled, innovative generation.

MP Ahmed Fathy, Chair of the Leaders Foundation, emphasized that investing in young women’s education and entrepreneurship is a direct investment in Egypt’s future. “They are capable of innovating and transforming their communities if given the right support,” he said.

Engineer Amani Fathy, representing the Ministry of Education, praised the showcased female-led projects and reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for initiatives that empower girls in technical education.

Honoring Local Leadership and Heritage

In a symbolic gesture, Counselor Amal Ammar presented the “Ta’a Marbouta” Shield — a national symbol of women’s empowerment — to Governor Khaled Mubarak and MP Ahmed Fathy for their support of the initiative.

A short documentary highlighting the She Leads journey was screened, followed by a presentation by students and parents about the impact of the program and the importance of family support in empowering girls.

On the sidelines of the event, the delegation toured an exhibition by women-led local cooperatives, showcasing authentic Sinai embroidery products. Ammar praised the quality and creativity of the handmade items, applauding the balance between heritage preservation and modern design.
