The National Council for Women (NCW) proudly hosted the graduation ceremony for the inaugural cohort of the “Nora” program. This initiative aims to empower girls across Egypt. It is part of the national women empowerment strategy, supported by First Lady Intisar al-Sisi. The program also aligns with the national project for Egyptian family development and the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Human.”
Celebrating Young Women’s Achievements
The ceremony took place in Asyut, where 344 girls and 26 facilitators from the villages of Al-Zarabi, Beni Sheqir, and Arab Al-Qudadiyh celebrated their accomplishments. Key attendees included MP Senaa El-Sayed, Dr. Marwa El-Kadwani, head of the NCW branch in Asyut, and Dr. Mina Emad, Deputy Governor of Asyut. Representatives from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Dutch Embassy, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) were also present.
Nora Exhibition and Performance
The event began with the opening of the “Nora” exhibition, showcasing handcrafted products created by participants during the program. The exhibition featured handmade accessories, jewelry, illustrations from the “Nora” guide, and various other handicrafts. A theatrical performance by the graduates highlighted their journey through the 40-session training program, adding depth to the celebration.
Empowering promised future and mothers of tomorrow
In her remarks, MP Senaa El-Sayed emphasized the significant impact of the “Nora” program on the lives of young women in Asyut. She noted improvements in their social and educational development. She called for the program’s expansion nationwide, recognizing these girls as the “promised future and mothers of tomorrow.”
Dr. Marwa El-Kadwani expressed her joy at the graduation of the first cohort. She praised the dedication of the program’s team in Asyut and stressed the importance of investing in girls from a young age. She also congratulated families on their daughters’ achievements.
The “Nora” program is a vital initiative aimed at empowering young women and enhancing their skills. It contributes to broader goals of female empowerment and community development in Egypt. As the program continues to evolve, it promises lasting change and a brighter future for the next generation of Egyptian women.
