The inauguration ceremony for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s new presidential term will take place tomorrow at the New Administrative Capital.
This event is among the most important in the new capital’s history. The House of Representatives will hold the swearing-in session at its new headquarters, beginning with a session on Tuesday.
Following the session, the constitutional oath will be taken before the House, followed by a visit to the memorial monument to lay wreaths and then raising the Egyptian flag.
According to Khaled Abbas, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development, the inauguration ceremony will mark the official opening of the first phase of the New Administrative Capital. It will receive great publicity during the ceremony and broadcast internationally.
After the inauguration ceremony, the presidential headquarters will move to the New Administrative Capital, completing the transfer of the country’s governance from its previous headquarters.
The Egyptian Constitution specifies that the procedures for taking the constitutional oath for the president must be followed before he assumes his duties.
The constitutional oath is required to be taken before the House of Representatives. In the House’s absence, the president may take the constitutional oath before the Supreme Constitutional Court.
Ehab al-Tamawy, the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the House of Representatives, explained that President Sisi will take the constitutional oath before members of the House of Representatives in the presence of several guests and public figures. The president will then deliver a speech to the nation.
