Egyptian actress Menna Shalaby is set to star in a highly anticipated movie adaptation of Mirna El Helbawi’s acclaimed novel “Kundalini,” directed by Mohamed Salama. The film, which will start filming in Egypt and India in the upcoming months, promises to bring this compelling story to life on the big screen.

Showing a passion for acting from an early age, Shalaby is considered one of the most talented actresses among the younger generation of Egyptian stars.

She made her film debut in 2001 in “Al Saher” (The Magician) as Nour. She then co-starred with prominent actress Layla Elwy in the 2004 flick “Baheb El Seema.”

Throughout her career, she has worked with renowned directors and actors such as Youssef Chahine in “Heya Fawda” (2007), Ahmed Abdallah in “Microphone” (2010), and Yousry Nasrallah in “Baad el Mawkeaa” (2012), a film about the infamous Battle of the Camel during the January 25 uprising.

Mirna, the writer of Kundalini, initially began as an online blogger, documenting her daily thoughts and feelings, primarily for friends and family.

Over time, her blog attracted an increasing number of readers. Encouraged by her friends, she decided to pursue a writing career and landed a job at a weekly magazine in Cairo while simultaneously studying at Alexandria University’s Faculty of Tourism & Hotel Management. She then moved to Cairo and published three books, including Kundalini.
