Under the patronage of Dr. Maya Morsy, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, the Egyptian Red Crescent, the “Lost Children Initiative,” Healing House Center, and the Welmnt platform, has launched the national “Asahabi” campaign. This initiative targets addressing and reduce violence among schoolchildren aged 6 to 18 years old.
The primary objective of the campaign is to mitigate violence in educational settings and raise awareness about mental health within schools, sports facilities, public spaces, and care homes for children and adolescents. This campaign comes as a direct response to the alarming increase in incidents of violence among children, which have long-term physical and psychological repercussions.
Minister Dr. Maya Morsi emphasized that the “Asahabi” campaign seeks to achieve a range of strategic objectives. These include increasing public awareness of the detrimental effects of violence on children, emphasizing its psychological and social consequences for the community, and promoting a culture of peace, tolerance, and conflict resolution. Additionally, the campaign will provide practical tools to identify and address harmful behaviors early, fostering a mindset of mutual understanding and respect.
The initiative aims to offer sustainable, actionable solutions, including specialized training for teachers, coaches, and parents to effectively manage and resolve conflicts. It will also incorporate innovative approaches to support mental health, including the use of artificial intelligence for tracking and addressing violent behaviors.
A key partner in the campaign, the Egyptian Red Crescent, will provide on-the-ground psychological support services, while volunteers and the “Lost Children Initiative” will amplify the campaign’s reach through their digital platforms.
The campaign includes a variety of interactive and educational activities, such as workshops for educators and administrators to enhance their skills in conflict resolution and rapid intervention. Interactive sessions will also be organized for children, focusing on building emotional intelligence and fostering a culture of non-violence.
In parallel, an extensive media campaign will be launched to showcase success stories and highlight positive role models, promoting healthy and respectful behaviors among children and adolescents.
