Dr. Rania Al Mashat, the Minister of International Cooperation, met with the interns who completed the 2023 Summer Training Program at the ministry’s offices in the New Administrative Capital.
This program is being offered for the third year in a row as part of the Ministry’s commitment to educating students and recent graduates with a focus on economics about the most recent advancements in international cooperation, financing for development, and economic relations between the Arab Republic of Egypt and multilateral and bilateral development partners.
This year, it had roughly 35 participants, most of whom were economics students from various universities throughout Egypt.
The Ministry has hosted more than 70 interns over the past three years, exposing students to work with multilateral cooperation, including the work teams of the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), African Development Bank (AfDB), and United Nations (UN) agencies, as well as the bilateral development cooperation sector, including cooperation with the Americas, Asia, and Europe, and Arab-African cooperation.
In an open discussion, Al-Mashat heard from each of the interns this year about their thoughts and queries, as well as what they had learned throughout their summer training program. The Minister also went over the Ministry’s responsibilities and role in fostering and deepening economic ties with international and regional financial institutions, the United Nations and its affiliated agencies and programs, multilateral and bilateral development partners, and the United States, as well as monitoring the execution of projects funded by development financing.
