Minister of Local Development of Egypt Discusses Bilateral Cooperation with Bahraini Ambassador

Dr. Manal Awad, Egypt’s Minister of Local Development, welcomed Ambassador Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, for a meeting aimed at discussing opportunities for collaboration between the two countries in the field of local development. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Hossam El-Kawysh, the Ministry’s Assistant for International Cooperation, and Mr. Mustafa Al-Khaja, Advisor at the Bahraini Embassy.

During the meeting, Minister Awad emphasized the deep and historic relations between Egypt and Bahrain, highlighting the progress achieved under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. She noted that these bilateral ties serve the mutual interests of both peoples and exemplify a model for close cooperation between brotherly nations in various fields.

The Minister also outlined the role of the Ministry of Local Development, which focuses on coordinating efforts between ministries and governmental entities, as well as overseeing the 27 Egyptian governorates to improve public services across various sectors.

In response, Amb. Zainal congratulated Dr. Awad on winning the Arab Government Excellence Award as the Best Arab Governor and on her appointment as Egypt’s first female Minister of Local Development, wishing her continued success in her future endeavors.

Ambassador Zainal underscored the long-standing and robust nature of the relationship between the two nations, noting Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations across all sectors to further the shared interests of both countries.

The meeting also covered several areas of potential cooperation, including initiatives to empower women, the training and development of local human resources, and collaboration between Egypt’s Local Development Training Center in Saqqara and Bahrain’s Institute of Public Administration. Discussions also focused on exploring new avenues for cooperation between Egypt’s Ministry of Local Development, its governorates, and Bahrain’s ministries involved in local administration, to further strengthen the ties between the two nations.

In closing, both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and cooperation between Egypt and Bahrain to achieve common goals in local development, thereby promoting sustainable development and improving the living standards of citizens in both countries.
