Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, met with Rizwan Soomar, CEO and Managing Director of DP World for the Middle East, North Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent. The meeting, held during El-Khatib’s visit to India, focused on DP World’s current and future projects in Egypt, as well as the country’s investment opportunities and potential.
El-Khatib emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting DP World’s projects, which include developments in the New Administrative Capital, logistics projects in 6th of October City, and the Ain Sokhna logistics zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. He highlighted Egypt’s “distinctive investment opportunities and potential” that align with DP World’s strategic goals.
The minister also underscored the Egyptian government’s ongoing efforts to improve the business climate through financial, monetary, and trade policy reforms. These reforms aim to simplify procedures, provide incentives for investors, and facilitate import and export activities.
Soomar, in turn, outlined DP World’s projects and expansion plans in Egypt, expressing the company’s interest in strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade. He emphasized the importance of enhancing Egypt’s role as a regional hub for trade and logistics.
The meeting signals Egypt’s continued efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen its position as a key player in regional and global trade.
