Minister of Environment Discusses “Green Light” Incentive Program with Egyptian Businessmen’s Association to Promote Green Investments

Dr. Yasmin Fouad, Minister of Environment, met with the Board of the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association, led by Mr. Bassam Al-Shanwani, to explore investment opportunities in the environmental sector, with a particular focus on the “Green Light” incentive program. The program aims to support private sector participation in sustainable development by providing incentives for green investments and environmentally responsible projects.

During the meeting, Dr. Fouad stressed that the “Green Light” program plays a key role in encouraging businesses to invest in the green economy. It serves as a platform for introducing the private sector to the growing opportunities in the field of environmental sustainability, which aligns with Egypt’s long-term goals of achieving a circular economy and a just green transition.

She highlighted that the “Green Light” program offers various financial and technical incentives designed to help companies implement green initiatives, reduce their environmental footprint, and contribute to Egypt’s sustainability agenda. The program particularly focuses on businesses looking to transition to sustainable practices in sectors such as waste management, renewable energy, and resource conservation. Dr. Fouad emphasized the importance of increasing awareness among investors and business owners about the available incentives, noting that these opportunities can significantly enhance their competitiveness in the market.

Dr. Ahmed Karim, Advisor to the Minister for the Private Sector, elaborated on the operational aspects of the “Green Light” program, explaining how it assists businesses in meeting environmental standards while fostering innovation and sustainable growth. The program’s support includes financial incentives, access to green technology, and partnerships with international organizations and financial institutions.

During the discussion, Dr. Fouad reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the private sector to accelerate the green transition. She noted that the “Green Light” program is part of a broader effort to foster partnerships that help businesses navigate the challenges of the green economy, while also creating a more sustainable future for Egypt. Many also expressed a desire for more targeted information and guidance on how to access the benefits provided by the program.

The meeting concluded with Dr. Fouad suggesting that the Ministry and the Association work together to organize dedicated events and workshops aimed at raising awareness about the “Green Light” program and its potential for transforming business practices. She also proposed direct consultations with interested companies to guide them in identifying and capitalizing on green investment opportunities. The Minister reiterated that the “Green Light” program is a crucial step in building a sustainable, green economy that benefits both the environment and the private sector.

By encouraging investment in sustainable projects, the “Green Light” program seeks to position Egypt as a regional leader in green innovation and eco-friendly business practices, fostering long-term economic growth and environmental protection.
