In line with the directives of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, to protect biodiversity and enhance cooperation with civil society, Ashum Al-Jamil Reserve in Damietta Governorate witnessed successfully rescue of four sea turtles.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad explained that the rescued turtles belong to two different species, including three green turtles and one loggerhead turtle. She noted that the turtles were transferred to the turtle rescue center at the reserve for monitoring and ensuring their well-being before being released back into their natural habitat in the Mediterranean Sea.
To raise environmental awareness, the rescue experiences carried out by Ashum Al-Jamil Reserve were showcased on a dedicated screen at the restaurant owned by the businessman. The goal was to educate citizens and visitors on the importance of preserving biodiversity and the role of protected areas in safeguarding endangered species.
Dr. Yasmine Fouad commended this successful collaboration, emphasizing the significance of the joint efforts between the Ministry of Environment and civil society in supporting biodiversity conservation and achieving sustainable development as outlined in Egypt’s Vision 2030. She expressed her gratitude and appreciation to all those contributing to the preservation of the environment and its biodiversity.
