Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsy, and the CEO of United Media Services, Amr El-Feki, conducted an inspection tour of the New El Alamein Festival.
The second edition of the New Alamein Festival began on July 11 and will run until August 30.
This year’s festival includes a variety of artistic and sporting events, building on the success of last year’s first edition.
In line with the state’s efforts to decrease electricity consumption, 50% of the festival’s activities will take place during the daytime. The festival will also utilize solar energy and electric generators.
Given the current circumstances, the Alamein Festival has chosen the theme “Alamein, the World” and will proudly display the Palestinian and Egyptian flags.
Additionally, 60% of the profits from this year’s festival will be allocated to support the people of Palestine. This means that every Egyptian or Arab family participating in the festival’s activities will be contributing to the support of a Palestinian family.
During the tour, Morsy checked out the entertainment area and received information about the festival’s activities at the open festival beach and the Roman Theater.
The minister moved on to praise the New Alamein Festival for donating more than 60% of its profits to support the Palestinians in Gaza, showing solidarity with them.
Morsy stated that Egypt brought 80% of aid to the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the Red Crescent and the National Alliance for Civil Development Action, with donations from families and civil society.
She added: The New Alamein Festival confirms Egypt’s support for the people in Gaza, as the Palestinian flag was raised on all icons and banners at the festival.
