National Council For Women Chairperson, Maya Morsy, referred to the global gender inequality, and the challenges facing women empowerment and gender equity. She stated that these challenges hinder the accessibility of resources to women, limited opportunity, and unequal burdens.
She added that the violence against women has been a global major challenge, along with the unequal illiteracy eradication rate. She necessitated the importance of gender equity transition and its socioeconomic impact on women. Maya made these remarks during a session entitled “Women Empowerment: Accelerating Climate Action” that was held during the proceedings of the second edition of the Egypt — International Cooperation Forum 2022.
The session witnessed the attendance of the Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al Mashat, Christine Arab- Country Representative of UN Women-, Lorena Aguilar-Executive Director Kaschak Institute for Social Justice for Women and Girls, Carlos Conde- Head of the Middle East and Africa Division & Global Relations Secretariat art OECD-, Laila Baker-UNFPA Representative United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Leslie Reed- USAID Mission Director for Egypt, Suzan Hamdy – Head of Financial Inclusion and Business Development at Banque Misr, and Yara Yassin, the co-founder of Up-fuse.
