Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced that public employees will be granted a six-day break from Tuesday 9th April to Sunday 14th April, which includes the weekend. This break is to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid Al-Fitr.
This year, Ramadan in Egypt and other countries will last 30 days, with Eid Al-Fitr commencing on Wednesday. However, Egypt’s Dar Al-Ifta will confirm the official starting date after sighting the Shawwal crescent, which will take place following the Maghrib prayer on Tuesday.
This holiday will be applicable to employees working in ministries, government institutions, public authorities, local administration units, as well as companies in the public and public enterprise sectors. The Ministry of Labour is expected to declare the Eid Al-Fitr holiday for private-sector employees.
