Local Development Minister and UNDP examine progress on partnership efforts

Egypt’s Minister of Local Development, Manal Awad, met with UNDP Resident Representative Alessandro Fracassetti to discuss ongoing cooperative initiatives, notably the EU-funded Technical Support Project for Decentralization and Integrated Local Development in Upper Egypt.

The project is focused on four governorates: Fayoum, Beni Suef, Luxor, and Aswan. It aims to implement various local economic development projects, such as industrial complexes, service centers, and market development initiatives.

Minister Awad emphasized the importance of accelerating project implementation, ensuring citizen benefits, and aligning with Egypt’s economic development strategy. She also stressed the need for strong governance, human resource development, and a collaborative approach to planning.

Fracassetti expressed gratitude for the ministry’s support and highlighted the project’s alignment with Egypt’s government program. He also indicated a willingness to explore further cooperation opportunities with the ministry to address citizens’ needs and advance government plans.
