Local Development Min. Reviews Waste Management Efforts with Nahdet Misr in Alexandria, Cairo, and Qalyubia

Minister of Local Development, Dr. Manal Awad, convened a meeting with Mr. Hossam Imam, Chairman of Nahdet Misr Environmental Services Company, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was also attended by Eng. Ahmed Atef, Director of the Executive Unit for Solid Waste Management at the Ministry, and Mr. Amr Bashir, Director of Business Development and Public Relations at Nahdet Misr.

The meeting focused on reviewing the ongoing efforts of Nahdet Misr in delivering municipal solid waste collection, transportation, street cleaning, and waste disposal services across Alexandria, in line with the agreements established between the company and the Alexandria Governorate. Additionally, the company’s waste management services in key districts of Cairo, including Ma’sara and Helwan, and in areas of Qalyubia, such as East and West Shubra El-Kheima and the city of Al-Khosous, were discussed.

Dr. Awad directed the Executive Unit for Waste Management to initiate comprehensive field assessments, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and local governorates, to monitor the performance of contracted areas and ensure adherence to operational plans. These visits will help identify any service delivery issues, facilitate timely resolutions, and ensure that citizens receive the highest standards of cleanliness and waste management services.

In response, Mr. Hossam Imam reiterated Nahdet Misr’s steadfast commitment to supporting the government’s and local authorities’ objectives of providing a clean and healthy environment. He emphasized the company’s dedication to enhancing waste management operations in Alexandria, Qalyubia, and Cairo through continuous improvement and increased efficiency.

Mr. Imam also presented an overview of the challenges faced by the company in the three governorates during the past period. He expressed confidence that, through ongoing collaboration with the Ministry and local authorities, these challenges would be addressed effectively, with all parties working in unison to achieve the necessary cleanliness standards and improve service quality for the benefit of the citizens.
