Leading Egyptian Companies and Individuals Among 76 Finalists of Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards 2024, Celebrating Innovation and Project Excellence

The anticipation builds as the finalists for the 4th edition of the Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards have been unveiled, marking a significant milestone in recognizing outstanding contributions by individuals and organizations to the construction industry in Egypt. Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards, running alongside Big 5 Construct Egypt and organized by dmg events, recognizes innovators and game-changers who have demonstrated excellence in driving positive change within the sector.

“Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards hold immense significance within the Egypt construction community, serving as an important event in the calendar for recognizing those that drive positive change and innovation. The finalists represent the best and brightest in our industry, and their contributions are pivotal in shaping the future landscape of construction in Egypt,” said Ben Greenish, Senior Vice President – Construction at dmg events.

Taking place on 26 June 2024 at the Dusit Ballroom, Dusit Thani Lakeview in Cairo, the awards ceremony will honour the best projects, innovations, businesses, teams and individuals across 19 categories. This year four categories have been newly introduced including Conservation & Heritage Initiative of the Year, Retrofit Project of the Year, Digital Transformation of the Year and Interior Design Firm of the Year.

“By introducing new categories that reflect the breadth and depth of the construction value chain, we can ensure that all stakeholders – from project owners, architects and engineers to contractors and retrofitting companies – are given the recognition they deserve for their contribution to the construction sector,” added Greenish.

Finalists at a glance

Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards’ finalists have been carefully selected for their exceptional contributions to advancing the sector’s standards of innovation and project excellence. With 76 finalists unveiled, the competition will be fierce as companies and individuals vie for the winner’s trophy.

For one of the top honours, Contractors of the Year, six companies including China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC-Egypt), Hassan Allam Construction, MADKOUR, Orascom Construction, Redcon Construction and The Arab Contractors (Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.), will battle it out for the final award.

Some of the other notable finalists include, Ras El Hekma Project, Mostakbal Misr, Sustainable Rural Sanitation Services Program (SRSSP), and Taha Hussein Bridge competing for the Infrastructure Project of the Year.

For the Sustainable Initiative of the Year the five finalists feature, the development of the fifth district in October Gardens, Baraka For Engineering And Contracting; innovative sustainable University campus design in Egypt, Criteria Design Group; Metacrete, ElMasriya for Consultation and Engineering Designs; Journey to Green, Redcon Construction; and East Alexandria Wastewater Treatment Plant Extension – phase 2 “Constructing A Sludge Treatment Unit”, The Arab Contractors Company ( Osman Ahmed Osman & Co.).

Independent and international panel of judges

Every year, Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards have been judged by an independent and international panel of renowned industry experts, including government officials and leaders, ensuring that the winners are chosen based on merit and excellence.

Commenting on this year’s entries, as one of the judges, Ahmed Ashraf Anwar, Chair of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) Egypt Regional Board, said: “As a judge for the Big 5 Egypt Impact Awards, I am truly impressed by the calibre of entries we have received this year. The innovative projects and initiatives demonstrate the industry’s commitment to excellence and progress. It has been a privilege to review such outstanding contributions, and I look forward to seeing the impact they will have on the future of the construction sector in Egypt.”

The judges panel also features leaders and experts from The Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Finance, Egypt, World Green Building Council, Chartered Institute of Building, International Code Council, Minnesota State University, Badr University in Cairo, and European Investment Bank, among others.
