Famed Kuwaiti world traveler Maryam Sultan Abdullah recently celebrated the completion of her remarkable journey of visiting all 197 countries across the globe, making her the first Kuwaiti and Arab woman to achieve this extraordinary milestone.
Embarking on her global journey in 2006, she shared a photo on her Instagram account proudly displaying multiple Kuwaiti passports, which she obtained to accommodate the stamps from the various countries she visited.
At 42 years old, Maryam has explored numerous countries and continents, from reaching the summit of Mount Everest to venturing to the South Pole and even indulging in the thrill of bungee-jumping over the crater of one of the world’s most dangerous volcanoes.
Sultan wrote on her Instagram account, where she documents photos from the countries she visits: All thanks and gratitude to my country and to those who helped and supported me during my travels, whether with information, suggestions, photography lessons, criticism, sports equipment, treatment for travel injuries and illnesses, and other travel matters.
She also emphasized the crucial role played by individuals who provided her with information, suggestions, photography lessons, critique, sports equipment, medical aid for travel-related injuries and illnesses, and other significant travel-related assistance.
Sultan previously acknowledged that each country she visited contributed something unique to her character and transformed her life. Delving into her experiences, she highlighted her pursuit of connecting with ordinary people from diverse age groups, nationalities, races, religions, and cultural backgrounds, emphasizing how these interactions significantly influenced her personal growth and shaped her personality.
By completing her journey and achieving her dream, Maryam portrays a role model for young girls and women and an inspiration to follow your dreams no matter how hard or unrealistic they seem to others.
