KSA’s King Abdulaziz University Launches Admissions in Maritime Studies for Women

King Abdulaziz University recently announced that it will now admit female students into maritime sector specializations for the first time. This move is in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. The university will also establish a new agency for female student affairs at the College of Maritime Studies.

The initiative aims to train Saudi women for new professions and to expand research and studies in the maritime field, which will contribute to the growth and development of the maritime transport and logistics industry in the Kingdom.

Dr. Faisal Al-Thaibani, Dean of the College of Maritime Studies, explained that this development will encourage community participation and make use of the capabilities of Saudi women in the maritime transport sector. This will increase overall efficiency and contribute to sustainability. The college’s strategy offers globally recognized education and training in maritime surveying and transportation, preparing Saudi human resources and contributing to the national economy’s growth.

On his part, Dr. Al-Thaibani also highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to increasing women’s participation in the maritime industry to address workforce gaps in line with global trends.

He went on to note a significant increase in female collaboration in the industry within the Kingdom, supported by Saudi Vision 2030’s focus on activities that elevate women’s representation across various sectors, including maritime transport.
