Joining millions of people around the world, hundreds of Israeli citizens gathered in Tel Aviv and outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house of residence in Caesarea on Saturday, 29 October, in protest calling for an immediate Ceasefire in Gaza.
Moreover, some protesters reportedly held banners demanding Netanyahu’s resignation, and others lit candles that read “guilty” and “shame”.
A similar demonstration took place outside the Jerusalem home of Economy Minister Nir Barkat.
Among the protestors were relatives of the more than 200 persons held captive in Gaza, the fate of whom has grown more uncertain.
These protests came following a meeting between Netanyahu and representatives of hostage families. Demonstrators held signs that read, “Ceasefire Now!”, “Israelis for a ceasefire”, “All for all”, and “Get my people home now”.
It is worth noting that animosity between the long-term leader and cabinet, which drew record crowds to the state’s streets earlier this year, has grown stronger since the conflict began.
