IOSCO 2026 Heads to Egypt: Sharm El-Sheikh to Host World’s Leading Securities Regulators

Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority has been selected to host the 51st Annual Conference of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in 2026. The decision, announced during IOSCO’s 2025 annual meeting in Doha, marks the first time Egypt will host this high-profile global event, reflecting international confidence in its evolving financial regulatory landscape.

The successful bid—led by Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA)—emerged from a competitive international selection process, signaling global recognition of the country’s regulatory reforms and growing influence in the non-banking financial sector, particularly in capital markets.

The announcement, made at IOSCO’s 2025 Annual Meeting in Doha, represents more than a win for Egyptian diplomacy. It’s a global endorsement of Egypt’s regulatory maturity, its ambitious market reforms, and its fast-growing influence in the world of finance.

Sharm El-Sheikh: A Global Financial Destination in 2026

Set against the backdrop of the Red Sea, the conference will take place in Sharm El-Sheikh, a city known for hosting major diplomatic and economic events. The gathering is expected to convene policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and financial experts from across IOSCO’s 229-member body, which collectively represents 95% of global securities markets.

A Testament to Regulatory Reform and Vision

The FRA’s successful campaign to secure the IOSCO conference is widely seen as a vote of confidence in Egypt’s regulatory overhaul over the past several years.

“Egypt’s selection to host IOSCO 2026 is a recognition of the reform trajectory we’ve undertaken,” Farid said. “It is also a strategic opportunity to showcase Egypt’s role as a regional financial hub and to engage with the international community on shaping the future of capital markets.”

A Strategic Platform for Global Cooperation

The IOSCO Annual Conference is among the world’s most influential events on securities regulation and market oversight. It serves as a premier forum for international cooperation between regulators, institutions, and financial experts to ensure a broad, inclusive dialogue that will support global financial integration and capacity-building, especially for developing and frontier markets.
