Remarking Africa Day on May 25th, Instagram launched its international campaign “Made By Africa, Loved by the World,” spotlighting four inspiring African women. This year’s campaign celebrates the achievements of exceptional women across sports, entertainment, and music, all with a global impact.
This marks the fourth year of the campaign, and for the first time, it features a woman from Egypt alongside trailblazers from Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa. The chosen women – Eniola Aluko, Bontle Modiselle, Victoria Kimani, and Tasneem Elaidy – share their journeys through captivating short films. The Rising star Tasneem Elaidy from Egypt, with her powerful vocals, gained a massive social media following and international acclaim for her original music and covers. These films, directed by a team of rising African filmmakers, delve into the triumphs, challenges, and passions that fuel these remarkable women.
The campaign aims to reshape the global perspective on Africa by amplifying the voices of these successful women. By showcasing their talents and dedication, Instagram is striving to inspire a new generation and redefine the African narrative. This initiative unites established and emerging creators to celebrate African identity and creativity.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate these amazing women who are making a global impact,” said Kezia Anim-Addo, Communications Director for Africa, Middle East & Turkey at Meta. “Instagram is a platform for showcasing passions and inspiring others, and this campaign perfectly embodies that spirit.”
