The US Embassy in Cairo has announced that the Harlem Globetrotters, worldwide basketball icons, will visit Egypt on May 31 and June 1 for performances in Cairo and Alexandria.
On May 25, the embassy said: The Embassy of the United States in Cairo is proud to announce that the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will be in Egypt from May 27 to June 3.
The US Embassy is thrilled to partner with this legendary American sports institution to foster cultural exchange and connections between the Egyptian and American people.
US Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg stated: “The Harlem Globetrotters represent diversity, perseverance, and a genuine love of the game.
The US diplomat said: We are proud to support this program as a testament to the enduring cultural partnership between the Egyptian and American people and as further proof of Egypt’s leading role in global tourism and the creative industry throughout the Middle East.
The statement says: The Harlem Globetrotters are a team built on diversity and committed to bringing together people from all backgrounds and physical abilities to foster cultural exchange and community pride.
It added: While in Egypt, the Harlem Globetrotters will conduct community basketball clinics with women athletes and youth groups, in addition to an event with wheelchair basketball players from the Al Hassan Foundation for Differently Abled Inclusion.
