Following up on the latest incident covered by the press over the past few days, inDrive issued an official statement to clarify its position and the measures it took in response to the situation.
The company said in its statement that, as an international company, we defend and support women’s rights all over the world and believe in the importance of empowering them.
The company added: On our part, there is no complacency when it comes to violations or prejudice against women or girls, and since the last incident, we have been in constant contact with the girl who was harmed as well. We cooperated with the authorities concerned with the investigations by providing all the details of the trip during which the incident occurred and providing all the driver’s data.
They continued: we have been working in Egypt for more than two years, and what happened is an individual incident that does not reflect or represent the company, because we detect drivers by ensuring the integrity of their documents before registering them on the application, and the most important of these documents is the criminal code that proves to the company that this driver is not he has no criminal record or history, as for his “harassment and violations in certain situations that are the result of sick or unbalanced behavior by the driver.
Their statement finally concluded: Now, inDrive has become one of the most important smart transportation companies in the world, and the company has applied advanced safety technologies and standards, such as a system of reviews for user reviews after the end of trips, an emergency call button, and the ability to share the user’s tracking of the trip online with relatives or friends, where only registered persons (drivers and passengers) can use the application and if necessary, the company always cooperates with the authorities concerned with investigations in the event of an accident.
