Immersive Ancient Egypt Exhibition Makes Debut at South Florida PBS

Mona Yousef

A new immersive exhibition at South Florida PBS is bringing the world of ancient Egypt vividly to life, offering visitors a high-tech journey through more than 3,000 years of history. “Egyptian Pharaohs: From Cheops to Ramses II” has officially opened in Boynton Beach, marking its first appearance in North America.

Developed in collaboration with Egyptologists and historians, the exhibition uses large-scale projections, surround sound, and detailed 3D reconstructions to explore daily life along the Nile, the rise of pharaonic power, and the engineering feats behind the pyramids. Rather than viewing artifacts behind glass, guests walk through fully immersive environments that place them inside royal tombs, temples, and iconic landmarks such as the Great Sphinx.

A walk through ancient civilization

The 70-minute experience guides visitors chronologically through ancient Egyptian history, from the reign of King Cheops (Khufu) — builder of the Great Pyramid — to the era of Ramses II, one of Egypt’s most influential pharaohs. Visual storytelling and sound design create a sense of scale and atmosphere, allowing visitors to feel surrounded by monumental architecture and ceremonial spaces.

The exhibition is designed for a broad audience and is recommended for ages five and up, making it both educational and family-friendly.

Interactive features and family appeal

In addition to its immersive galleries, the exhibition includes interactive attractions aimed at deepening engagement. Visitors can interact digitally with Queen Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt’s most powerful female rulers, step into a photo booth that transforms them into ancient Egyptians, and browse a themed gift shop featuring educational toys, books, and souvenirs.
