Dr. Hala Abou El Saad has been elected President of the Egyptian Federation for Financing Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (EFSMEs), a key institution at the heart of Egypt’s economic empowerment and enterprise financing efforts. Her four-year term begins at a pivotal moment for small business development across the country.

Known for her extensive background in legislative and economic spheres, Abou El Saad’s leadership is expected to steer the Federation into a new phase of innovation and accessibility, particularly as Egypt continues to promote entrepreneurship and expand financial inclusion.

A veteran policymaker and business advocate, Dr. Abou El Saad has served two consecutive terms as a Member of Parliament, during which she held the position of Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Small Projects. She also chairs the Future Businesswomen Association and is a member of the Advisory Committee on Finance at the Financial Regulatory Authority — experience that positions her uniquely to lead EFSMEs at this critical juncture.

The Federation plays a crucial role in coordinating efforts between financial institutions, government bodies, and private sector stakeholders to facilitate funding opportunities for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which constitute the backbone of Egypt’s economy.

With her new role, Dr. Abou El Saad is expected to focus on modernizing financing tools, expanding outreach to underserved entrepreneurs, and enhancing the regulatory environment to better support small enterprise growth. Her agenda is likely to include capacity-building programs, digital transformation initiatives, and greater collaboration between public and private sectors to streamline access to credit and financial services.

Her election is being hailed by economic observers as a promising step toward building a more inclusive and dynamic financial ecosystem. It underscores the increasing recognition of experienced, reform-minded leadership in advancing Egypt’s long-term development goals through entrepreneurship.
