Egypt Healthcare Authority, in collaboration with the Egyptian Society of Cardiology, has won the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) award for its exceptional heart failure awareness campaign during World Heart Week 2025. This honor places Egypt among the top five campaigns globally, from 57 participating countries.
Dr. Ahmed ElSobky, Chairman of Egypt Healthcare Authority, highlighted that cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death worldwide, with 80% of these deaths preventable through awareness and early detection. He also noted Egypt’s growing global reputation for its expertise in cardiology, particularly in diagnosis, interventional treatments, and pharmaceutical therapies.
The Authority has been a pioneer in offering advanced cardiac interventions in Egypt, including medical drills, TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation), and CTO (Chronic Total Occlusion) procedures. It also leads in coronary catheterizations and the treatment of chronic coronary artery blockages.
Dr. ElSobky expressed pride in the success of the “Discover the Undiscovered” heart failure awareness campaign, which exceeded its target by 230%, reaching over 7,000 citizens covered by the Comprehensive Health Insurance System. He credited the collaboration with the Egyptian Society of Cardiology for this global recognition.
Additionally, Dr. ElSobky praised the success of the 52nd International Conference of the Egyptian Society of Cardiology and announced that the ESC award would allow Authority physicians to attend the upcoming annual cardiology conference in Serbia. He emphasized that strengthening collaboration with the Egyptian Society of Cardiology will be key as the Comprehensive Health Insurance System continues to expand.
The Egyptian Society of Cardiology commended the General Authority for Healthcare’s leadership in health awareness and acknowledged the successful implementation of impactful campaigns through their partnership.
