France to Halt Selling Apple’s iPhone 12 Due to High Radiation

News Agencies

France will halt selling Apple’s iPhone 12 model due to above-threshold radiation levels, France’s Minister for the Digital Economy Jean-Noël Barrot told Le Parisien on Tuesday.

The official added that France’s radiation watchdog ANFR said that its decision to ban iPhone 12 sales came after tests that showed the smartphone’s Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) was slightly higher than legally allowed.

Apple did not immediately comment on the statements.

However, Barrot said a software update can fix the radiation issues linked to the phone, adding that “Apple is expected to respond within two weeks.”

“If they fail to do so, I am prepared to order a recall of all iPhones 12 in circulation. The rule is the same for everyone, including the digital giants.”
