Forbes Middle East has released its second annual list of Sustainability Leaders for 2024. Forbes Middle East has announced its annual list of recognizing 107 individuals who are driving positive change in the region.
The UAE continues to lead the way in sustainability initiatives, with 54 honorees hailing from the country. Saudi Arabia and Egypt follow with 20 and 10 leaders, respectively.
These individuals are being celebrated for their innovative approaches to environmental protection, social responsibility, and economic sustainability. Their work is contributing to a more sustainable future for the Middle East.
As financial investments in sustainability continue to grow in the region, the importance of these leaders becomes even more apparent. In the banking sector, First Abu Dhabi Bank facilitated $21.2 billion in sustainable and transition projects during the first half of 2024. The QNB Group contributed $3.5 billion to green loans in 2023 and played a pivotal role in coordinating Qatar’s first $2.5 billion green bond issuance in May 2024. Emirates NBD has facilitated over $20.4 billion in green, social, and sustainability-linked transactions since 2021.
The Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders Summit, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi from October 17-18, 2024, will provide a platform for these leaders to discuss their achievements and explore future opportunities.
