Mona Yousef

Eng.  Marwa Hussein Amin Ahmed  has been appointed as head of the New Administrative Capital Development Authority, becoming the first woman to lead this key institution in one of Egypt’s largest national projects. The appointment was part of a major executive reshuffle announced by Engineer Sherif Al-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities.

Eng.  Hussein has a long-standing career in urban planning and new city development. Before this role, she served as head of the Sheikh Zayed City Development Authority, where she oversaw the implementation of housing and infrastructure projects while focusing on improving the quality of services for residents. During her tenure, she also worked on streamlining administrative processes, enhancing project completion rates, and managing complex urban planning files with efficiency. Her work in Sheikh Zayed City earned recognition from the Ministry of Housing and positioned her to take on the responsibilities of developing the New Administrative Capital.

Her appointment is significant in terms of women’s representation in leadership positions within Egypt’s urban development sector. It reflects a commitment to assigning senior roles based on professional experience and competence, particularly in projects of strategic national importance.

In her new position, Marwa Hussein will oversee the continuation of infrastructure and utility projects, supervise housing and public service developments, and work to improve the operational efficiency and management of the New Administrative Capital. She will also coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure that development plans are implemented effectively and sustainably.

The reshuffle also included appointments in other new cities, such as 6th of October, El Shorouk, and New Assiut, but the spotlight remains on Marwa Hussein as the first woman to lead the New Administrative Capital Development Authority, marking a notable moment in the country’s approach to urban development leadership.
