Redefining Egypt’s role on the global healthcare map, Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) has unveiled the standout achievements of its flagship medical tourism initiative, branded “We Care for You in Egypt” -“Nahn Naraak” . The announcement follows the formal establishment of the National Council for Health Tourism, a pivotal move that underscores the state’s commitment to positioning medical tourism as a key driver of sustainable economic growth.

In a statement released on Monday, EHA  Chairperson, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, lauded the initiative as a “model of synergy between quality healthcare and economic value.” He further emphasized the Authority’s readiness to contribute its expertise to the newly formed National Council for Health Tourism, reflecting a unified national approach to harnessing the vast potential of Egypt’s healthcare sector.

Global Reach and Impact

According to an official infographic released by the EHA, the Authority’s facilities have treated patients from 97 countries, delivering advanced medical care to over 24,000 foreign patients. The services span critical specialties including cardiology, orthopedics, cosmetic surgery, and complex surgical procedures—each delivered under rigorous international quality standards.

“This is a testament not only to the readiness of our medical infrastructure,” said Dr. El-Sobky, “but also to the global trust Egypt has earned in delivering high-standard, patient-centered healthcare.”

Driving Digitization and Global Partnerships

In a major leap toward digital transformation, the GHCA has created over 24,000 electronic medical records for international patients, ensuring real-time access to accurate health information and enabling efficient, patient-tailored care. This digitization effort enhances operational transparency and aligns Egypt’s medical services with global benchmarks for health IT systems.

Equally notable is the GHCA’s strategic alliance with 25 international health insurance companies, which facilitates seamless treatment journeys for international patients. These partnerships offer standardized treatment packages that cater to both the medical and financial needs of global patients, streamlining care delivery and reducing entry barriers for international health seekers.

Financial Growth and Strategic Positioning

The Authority also reported a threefold increase in revenues from medical tourism, now exceeding $4.5 million, a robust indicator of the sector’s rising economic significance and the competitiveness of Egypt’s healthcare offerings.

Dr. El-Sobky attributed this growth to a comprehensive strategy focused on building internationally accredited healthcare infrastructure, expanding international partnerships, and delivering a seamless digital health experience

Inst, itutional Integration and National Vision

The formation of the National Council for Health Tourism, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, is a cornerstone of Egypt’s national strategy to centralize and institutionalize medical tourism governance. Dr. El-Sobky, a key member of the council, stated:

“This council consolidates national efforts and provides a unified institutional framework to promote Egypt as a global medical tourism hub.”

He further highlighted that the EHA’s efforts aligns with the Council’s strategic mandate, including marketing policy development, data analytics, standard setting, and public-private integration.

“With each patient we welcome,” he concluded, “we reaffirm Egypt’s identity as a beacon of healing, innovation, and compassionate care on the world stage.”

Dr. El-Sobky reiterated the Authority’s dedication to offering a “world-class therapeutic experience” for international patients, underpinned by globally recognized treatment protocols and a service quality that honors Egypt’s historical stature.
