With the trial operations of the Giza Pyramids service development project set to commence in two days, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, conducted a comprehensive inspection to ensure readiness and enhance the visitor experience.
Streamlining Visitor Experience
Minister Fathy emphasized the importance of providing a seamless, enjoyable, and sustainable experience for both Egyptian and international visitors. The enhancements aim to facilitate easier access to the archaeological site, especially during the upcoming Eastern and Western Easter holidays. Key improvements include:
- New Entrance Gates: Strategically located on the Cairo-Fayoum Road, these gates will serve as primary access points, featuring modern amenities such as shelters and lighting to ensure visitor comfort and safety.
- Electric Shuttle Buses: Environmentally friendly buses will transport visitors between key sites within the plateau, accommodating tourists with mobility challenges.
- Enhanced Facilities: Upgraded restrooms, a visitor center, smart electronic ticketing systems, and designated areas for vendors aim to enrich the overall tourist experience.
Extended Trial Period
The trial phase, initially scheduled to conclude in April, has been extended through May to allow thorough assessment and fine-tuning of services. This period will enable continuous monitoring and adjustments to ensure the highest quality of service upon full implementation.
These developments underscore Egypt’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage while providing modern, sustainable, and accessible tourism experiences.
