As part of Egypt’s efforts to enhance social care services and support vulnerable children, Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Maya Morsy paid an inspection visit to “Beit Soghayar” (“Little Home”), a child care facility operated by the Yalla Kafala Foundation, a prominent civil society organization engaged in the alternative care sector.
During the visit, Dr. Morsy toured the facility’s living quarters, kitchen, and common areas, engaging warmly with children and assessing the quality of care provided. She emphasized the government’s strong commitment to developing a robust and humane social welfare system, with active collaboration from non-governmental organizations.
Kafala, a form of alternative family care, is a key focus area for the Ministry of Social Solidarity. Dr. Morsy reiterated that increasing the number of kafala families remains a national priority, as it offers children the emotional stability and social inclusion they need to thrive.
She praised the work of Yalla Kafala and similar institutions for their contributions to the social safety net, and affirmed that the Ministry would continue to support civil society partners in delivering high-quality care and family-based alternatives to institutionalization.
Dr. Morsy’s visit underscores a broader policy shift toward child-centered care models and reinforces Egypt’s vision of building an inclusive society where all children—regardless of their background—have the opportunity to live, grow, and succeed in a family-like setting.
