Egypt’s Public Prosecution, represented by the Judicial Inspection Department, has received a delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as part of efforts to deepen institutional cooperation and enhance coordination on women’s protection and anti-violence initiatives, according to an official statement.

The meeting received  the head of the Office for the Protection of Children, Persons with Disabilities, and the Elderly, along with several members of the Public Prosecution from relevant departments.

Preparatory Visit for Anti-Violence Program

The discussions took place during a technical visit by a specialized KOICA team, scheduled from January 17 to January 28, as part of preparatory steps for implementing a joint program titled “Enhancing the Provision of Multi-Sectoral Services for Women and Girls to Combat Violence Against Women.”

The program is being coordinated with the National Council for Women and other national partner institutions, reflecting a multi-agency approach to addressing gender-based violence.

Overview of Prosecution’s Role and Institutional Framework

During the meeting, representatives of the Public Prosecution outlined the institution’s history, organizational structure, and its role in safeguarding society and protecting vulnerable groups. Particular emphasis was placed on the work of the Office for the Protection of Children, Persons with Disabilities, and the Elderly, highlighting its efforts to support and protect girls — a mandate that officials said directly contributes to broader protections for women.

Officials also reviewed the office’s operational mechanisms and existing coordination frameworks with relevant state entities.

Capacity Building and Training Strategy

The Public Prosecution further presented its training and capacity-building strategy, detailing the role of the Training and Advocacy Administration in strengthening prosecutors’ skills through specialized training programs and international knowledge exchange.

Members of the visiting delegation commended these efforts, praising the institutional approach to protection and accountability.

Toward Integrated Protection and Strategic Partnerships

The meeting included in-depth discussions on intervention mechanisms, victim protection measures, technical assistance, and opportunities for capacity development, alongside the exchange of international best practices.

Both sides stressed the importance of integrating efforts between the Public Prosecution and the National Council for Women, supporting the operation of the Integrated Women’s Services Unit, and expanding strategic partnerships with KOICA and UNFPA.

Officials said such cooperation would contribute to reinforcing national policies, promoting women-friendly institutional environments, and enhancing mechanisms for protecting victims of violence.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continued coordination, positioning the initiative as part of Egypt’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional responses to violence against women through international partnership and sustainable capacity building.
