Egypt’s Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, has issued a decree accepting the resignation of Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment. In a separate decision, Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, has been assigned to serve as Acting Minister of Environment, effective immediately, until a permanent appointment is made.
Dr. Awad will temporarily oversee the Ministry of Environment alongside her current portfolio, ensuring continued leadership and coordination on key environmental initiatives during the transitional period.
This leadership shift comes at a pivotal time for Egypt’s environmental agenda, with ongoing efforts to implement national sustainability strategies and fulfill international climate commitments under Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Further announcements regarding a successor to the Ministry of Environment are expected in due course.
