Egypt’s Minister of Planning , Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, will participate in the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. Held under the theme “Cooperation for the Smart Era” from January 20 to 24, the forum features a broad participation of world leaders, policymakers, and international organizations, with Egypt’s delegation being headed by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, representing President Abdel Fattah AL-Sisi.
Dr. Al-Mashat’s agenda at the WEF is packed with high-level events and bilateral meetings for fostering collaboration to advance Egypt’s economic future. Key priorities for her participation include opening new avenues of cooperation with the World Economic Forum to bolster Egypt’s economic growth prospects. Additionally, she will showcase the significant strides the government has made over recent months to stabilize the macroeconomy and continue with essential economic and structural reforms.
Dr. El-Mashat’s schedule includes participation in the Leaders of the Future Growth meeting and a roundtable discussion titled “What Does the Future Hold for the Climate Movement?”. As a co-chair, she will also engage in the MICEE Initiative—which focuses on attracting investments for clean energy in emerging economies—alongside Samila Zobaero, CEO of the African Finance Corporation. Furthermore, Dr. El-Mashat will take part in sessions addressing gender equality and the energy transition.
Another significant event in her calendar is a session on Debt Relief Strategies, where she will join global leaders to discuss solutions to ease debt burdens for developing nations. She will also participate in the IGWEL working group session on “Stability and Security in the Middle East,” which will bring together regional experts to address pressing challenges in the region. Additionally, Dr. El-Mashat will engage in discussions at the Advisory Council of the Center for the New Economy and Society.
This year’s WEF will focus on addressing a range of critical global challenges, including geopolitical tensions, sustainable economic growth, and improving living standards. A key emphasis will be on promoting a fair and inclusive transition in the energy sector, aligned with the latest technological advancements.
