Egypt’s Petroleum Sector Sets New Social Responsibility Strategy For Sustainability: Petroleum Min.

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, declared the launch of the petroleum sector’s social responsibility strategy as part of its instrumental role in fostering community development and elevating living conditions within the scope of Egypt’s 2030 vision.

The newly launched strategy primarily focuses on education, training, economic development, health, gender equality, environmental protection projects, and participation in presidential initiatives such as “Decent Life,” El-Molla continued.

As a step further, Egypt’s petroleum authority formed a higher committee for social responsibility. The committee, to be chaired by the minister, will oversee the implementation of the strategy, while task forces will monitor and execute the plans and projects.

El Molla also lauded the sector’s constructive cooperation with local petroleum companies and successful partners from foreign companies operating in Egypt, who are keen to contribute and participate in implementing various vital community projects that impact citizens.

It is worth noting that more than 120 international petroleum companies operating in Egypt have established effective social responsibility efforts, among which is the Italian company ENI, which has allocated part of its resources during the development of the Zohr field, where three community development projects have been implemented in Port Said Governorate, including the establishment of a medical center serving more than 20,000 citizens, a training center for developing youth skills, and Zohr School of Applied Technology in the governorate.

The implementation of the Excellence Center project within the school’s premises is underway, aimed at honing the skills of youth and the workforce through practical training. VENT has also executed projects that support social responsibility and sustainable development.

These initiatives represent a positive sign for Egypt’s ongoing efforts to achieve sustainable development and promote a better quality of life for its citizens.
