The Foreign Relations Committee of Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) held its periodic meeting via video conference, chaired by Dr. Amani Asfour, NCW member and co-rapporteur of the committee, alongside committee members.
The meeting focused on reviewing and discussing proposals for upcoming activities and events. A key area of emphasis was the engagement of youth in women’s empowerment efforts. Members proposed launching a series of awareness seminars across universities and institutions to raise awareness about the Council’s role, objectives, and national efforts in advancing gender equality through the implementation of supportive policies and strategies.
Preparations also began for a major upcoming event commemorating 30 years since the Beijing Platform for Action, a landmark international framework for women’s rights. The event is expected to showcase Egypt’s achievements in promoting women’s rights, while addressing future challenges. The celebration will bring together government representatives, civil society actors, and international organizations.
