Egypt’s NCW  Showcases Female Entrepreneurship at Morocco’s Int’l Tex and Fashion Expo

Mona Yousef

The National Council for Women (NCW) of Egypt  represents  the country at the 10th edition of the Morocco Fashion Style & Tex International Exhibition, held in the Kingdom of Morocco from May 28 to 31, 2025. The Council’s participation underscores Egypt’s ongoing efforts to empower women economically and promote locally made, women-led brands on the international stage.

The Egyptian delegation is led by Council Member Ms. Marie Louis and Ms. Mai Mahmoud, Director General of the Women’s Skills Development Department. They are joined by a team of trainers, along with a cohort of women and youth graduates from the NCW’s productive groups—participants in the EU-partnered initiative aimed at addressing the economic drivers of irregular migration.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Marie Louis emphasized that the Council’s involvement in the exhibition reflects its strategic commitment to advancing women’s economic empowerment. “This platform allows our female entrepreneurs not only to exhibit their craftsmanship, but also to connect with international markets, gain exposure, and build sustainable commercial networks,” she stated.

Ms. Mai Mahmoud highlighted the uniqueness of the NCW’s exhibition booth, which showcases an eclectic array of handmade products crafted entirely by Egyptian women trained through the Council’s migration-prevention program. Each artisan presented her own brand, representing a personal success story born out of training, resilience, and innovation.

The displayed items span a wide spectrum of creative industries—from hand-embroidered textiles, printed fabrics, and patchwork art, to handcrafted jewelry, accessories, natural cosmetics, essential oils, and artisanal agricultural goods such as spices and dried fruits.

Visitors to the exhibition expressed enthusiastic admiration for the high quality and authenticity of the Egyptian products. Many placed direct orders, signaling strong market interest and affirming the growing global appetite for ethically produced, women-led merchandise.

As the exhibition continues, it offers a compelling glimpse into how women’s economic empowerment can transform lives—and reshape global markets.
