Egypt’s NCW Joins CSW69

Dr. Amal Ammar, Chairwoman of Egypt’s National Council for Women and head of the Egyptian delegation, participated in the opening session of the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69).

Key Discussions

Alongside Dr. Ammar, Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Osama Abdel-Khalek, attended the session, along with other key members of the Egyptian delegation, including Dr. Amani Asfour, a council member, Sherwit Ibrahim, Director of the International Agreements and Cooperation Department at the council, Nada Adel, Second Secretary at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Heba Mostafa, Deputy Head of the Egyptian Mission to the UN.

The CSW69 session focuses on “Reviewing and assessing the progress made in the Beijing Platform for Action +30”, with the goal of evaluating the achievements and challenges surrounding women’s empowerment and gender equality worldwide. The discussions aim to assess the effectiveness of global efforts in advancing gender equality, with a keen focus on overcoming the challenges that persist and identifying strategies for improvement.

Related Egyptian Initiatives and Support

Egypt has been an active participant in UN initiatives aimed at promoting women’s rights, with various programs, such as the National Program for Supporting the Bread Subsidy in Egypt and initiatives like “Towards a Model Mediterranean Sea by 2030”, being highlighted at the UN. These efforts reflect Egypt’s ongoing commitment to advancing women’s rights and promoting equality through targeted national programs.
