Head of the National Council for Women (NCW) Amal Ammar had a meeting with Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) office in Egypt Clémence Vidal de La Blache.
The meeting, which was also attended by the head of the AFD’s urban development and transport department, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding partnership opportunities in the coming period.
Ammar highlighted the council’s efforts in empowering Egyptian women across various sectors and its role in integrating women’s needs into development policies and programs, helping to achieve sustainable development goals.
The discussion also covered the progress of two major projects; namely the rehabilitation of Raml Tram in Alexandria and the urban transport project.
Key topics included enhancing gender equality within the transport system and the importance of integrating women’s issues into this critical sector.
The meeting also addressed the significance of raising awareness about the first-ever code of conduct for the transport system, which considers women’s issues and promotes values of integrity, equality, and professionalism.
Both sides emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and expanding areas of collaboration to support Egypt’s efforts in achieving sustainable development and empowering women.
