Egypt’s Minister of Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif, met today with Mr. Rod Smith, Director General of the International Education Group at the University of Cambridge, as part of his visit to the United Kingdom. The discussion focused on enhancing the shared educational projects between Egypt’s Ministry of Education and the University of Cambridge.
During the meeting, Minister Abdel Latif emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Cambridge International, highlighting the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening and renewing agreements between the two parties.
The Minister praised the role of Cambridge International as a key partner to the Ministry, noting the longstanding and fruitful collaboration in Egypt. Many schools across the country rely on the British education system, with Cambridge providing curricula, examination systems, and IGCSE certifications for Egyptian students.
The Minister further highlighted the importance of continuing this partnership, especially in the development of Egypt’s Nile Schools, ensuring that they align with global technological and educational advancements. He also expressed the Ministry’s intention to expand the number of Nile Schools across Egypt’s governorates.
In response, Mr. Rod Smith commended the Ministry of Education for its continuous efforts in advancing Egypt’s education system. He acknowledged the wide range of global assessments offered by Cambridge and pointed out that Cambridge’s programs focus on developing both the academic and personal skills of students. He reiterated Cambridge’s commitment to supporting the Ministry’s efforts in improving the educational process in Egypt.
During the meeting, both sides discussed various aspects of collaboration, particularly the development and enhancement of digital learning resources, curriculum review and development, teacher capacity building, and the continued progress of Nile Schools.
The meeting also reaffirmed the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Cambridge International Examinations, focusing on curriculum development, teacher training programs, and improving leadership within the Nile Schools system.
From the Egyptian delegation, Dr. Hanem Ahmed, the Minister’s Advisor for International Relations, was present.
