The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has announced that its President’s sustainable initiative to support the health of Egyptian women has reached a remarkable milestone, with 55,547,334 visits recorded from its launch in July 2019 until the end of November 2024. The initiative, which provides comprehensive health services and awareness campaigns, has successfully engaged millions of women across Egypt.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry’s official spokesperson, detailed the breakdown of these visits: 22,319,064 were first-time visits, 21,030,569 were periodic checkups, and 12,197,701 were occasional visits for various health-related concerns.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the importance of regular health checkups, urging women to take advantage of the free services offered by the initiative. He highlighted that early detection of conditions such as breast cancer can significantly reduce both the physical and financial burden on patients and the healthcare system, thanks to timely interventions and treatments following internationally recognized protocols.
As part of the initiative’s efforts to ensure widespread access, over 760,000 women have visited hospitals for advanced examinations. The initiative operates through 3,663 health units across Egypt’s governorates, with the support of 102 hospitals offering specialized services. Women who require more advanced care can access these services at no cost, all while benefiting from the latest treatment protocols.
Furthermore, Dr. Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the initiative is equipped with 14 dedicated centers for breast cancer treatment, managed by the Ministry of Health and Population. In partnership with the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, these centers offer free treatment and are also being developed into research hubs aimed at advancing cancer care, in line with the government’s vision to enhance public health through applied medical research.
For any inquiries, women can reach the initiative’s dedicated hotline, 15335, as part of the “100 Million Health” initiative. The continued success of this initiative reflects Egypt’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of its citizens, particularly women, by providing accessible, world-class healthcare services.
