Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority , met with Dr. Samah El-Bajouri, Chairman of Sandoz Egypt, to discuss ongoing collaboration projects between the two entities. The meeting primarily focused on the provision of oncology medications and biologic therapies, alongside strategies for improving health services for the Comprehensive Health Insurance Program beneficiaries.

Key Topics Discussed: Advancing Scientific and Medical Collaboration

Dr. El-Sobky  emphasized that the meeting covered several key points, including the launch of a scientific platform for health care recipients to facilitate discussions, continuous medical education, and the expansion of training and research programs aimed at enhancing the skills of medical professionals and improving the quality of health services. This initiative aligns with Egypt’s broader vision to support medical professionals through advanced training and research opportunities, especially in critical fields such as oncology and immunology.

Agreement on Future Cooperation

The meeting also led to an agreement in principle on signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the General Authority for Healthcare and Sandoz Egypt. The MoU will focus on several areas of mutual collaboration, particularly in kidney transplant support by providing immunosuppressant medications. Furthermore, the partnership will include specialized training programs for healthcare professionals and the establishment of kidney transplant centers across Egypt.

One of the significant topics also discussed was the growing challenge of antibiotic resistance. Both parties agreed to collaborate on joint studies to monitor bacterial resistance patterns and implement antibiotic stewardship programs in hospitals, ensuring appropriate and judicious use of antibiotics.

Public Awareness and Health Initiatives

Additionally, the discussion highlighted the importance of raising public awareness on topics such as antibiotic resistance and the correct use of medicines. The partnership will focus on educational campaigns aimed at both health care providers and service recipients, emphasizing preventive health care, early disease detection, and safe medication practices, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of life for Egyptian citizens.

Digital Transformation in Healthcare

Dr. El-Sebki also commended Sandoz Egypt‘s support in the local pharmaceutical industry. He mentioned that the General Authority for Healthcare is the only authority in Egypt that issues electronic prescriptions, with more than 20 million electronic prescriptions issued monthly. This initiative has significantly improved the digital infrastructure of the healthcare system, enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of health services for insured individuals.

Strategic Partnership for Future Innovation

Dr. Samah El-Bajouri praised the ongoing efforts of the General Authority for Healthcare to modernize and strengthen the healthcare sector, particularly in the digital domain. He emphasized that Sandoz Egypt is looking forward to a strategic partnership with the authority, aligning with shared goals of improving access to modern treatments and driving innovation within the Egyptian healthcare sector.

Sandoz Egypt is committed to enhancing the availability of biologic therapies and oncology medications, aiming to bridge the gap in access to cutting-edge treatments for Egyptian patients.
