Dr. Hala El-Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, recently participated in a highly informative and engaging session titled “Macroeconomic Trends in 2024” during a seminar organized by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).
The seminar was designed to discuss the future and challenges of financial markets and wealth in Egypt and global and local economic indicators.
During the session, Dr. Hala El-Said emphasized the importance of the Egyptian government’s commitment to launching new plans and programs in collaboration with the private sector, civil society, academics, and think tanks. She explained how the government utilized the period of the COVID pandemic to engage in societal dialogues with development partners to come up with a comprehensive and genuine structural reform plan.
This plan involves studying all different sectors of the economy, with a particular focus on the three real economy sectors – industry, agriculture, and information technology and communications. By increasing the weight of these sectors in the economy, they become more productive, enabling an increase in the share of exports to become more competitive and contributing to enhancing the state’s sustainable resources from the exports of the real sector.
Dr. Hala El-Said further explained that the government’s focus on the three real economy sectors is intended to increase their contribution to the economy’s GDP, which will significantly improve the country’s overall economic performance. By prioritizing these sectors, the government aims to make the Egyptian economy more resilient and sustainable in the long term.
Dr. Hala El-Said’s participation in the seminar and her insights on the government’s plans and programs for the Egyptian economy were highly informative and enlightening.
