Egypt’s rise in population rate fell by 46% between 2017 and 2023, according to Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Saeed.
Egypt’s population growth rate will fall to 1.4 percent in 2023, the lowest in 50 years, down from 2.6 percent in 2017, according to a research released by the National Project for Egyptian Family Development (NPEFD).
According to the research, Egypt’s birth rate will hit two million in 2023, down 15% from 2018 and 7% from 2022.
The NPEFD, which began in 2022, is a comprehensive development initiative aimed at increasing living quality by emphasizing on social, demographic, cultural, and health-related factors, such as women’s economic empowerment and health difficulties.
The population was at 105.8 million on January 1, up from 104.4 million in 2022 and 102.8 million in 2021, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics’ (CAPMAS) population clock.
According to the most recent family health survey, Egypt’s fertility rate has fallen from 3.5 children per woman in 2014 to 2.85 in 2021.
According to the survey, the contraceptive prevalence rate will rise to 66.4 percent by 2021, up from 58.5 percent in 2014.
The country’s population increased to 94.8 million in 2017, from 91 million in 2016.
