Egypt’s Foreign Minister Holds Strategic Talks with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

Egypt’s  Minister of Foreign Affairs,  Badr Abdel-Atti,, held a phone call with EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kalas, on Sunday, February 2, as part of ongoing consultations and coordination between Egypt and the European Union.

In a statement, Ambassador Tamim Khlaaf, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted that Minister Abdel-Atti praised the distinguished relationship between Egypt and the EU, emphasizing the mutual commitment to advancing the strategic and comprehensive partnership between the two parties. He expressed his hope for continued support from the High Representative to strengthen this partnership, particularly in facilitating the second tranche of the 4 billion euro financial package.

Minister Abdel-Atti highlighted Egypt’s continuous efforts to achieve security and stability in the region amidst significant geopolitical challenges. He briefed Ms. Kalas on the latest developments regarding the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of ensuring the sustainability of the agreement, the completion of its three phases, and the necessity of preserving the Palestinian people’s right to remain on their land and their right to self-determination.

The spokesperson further mentioned that the Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring rapid and sustained humanitarian aid delivery to the Gaza Strip to meet the urgent needs of the population amid the catastrophic humanitarian conditions. Minister Abdel-Atti called on the EU to continue its support for humanitarian efforts in Gaza by increasing the volume of relief assistance and cooperating in launching early recovery and reconstruction projects.
