On Saturday, December 21, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, met with former Tourism Minister and UNESCO candidate for the post of Director-General, Khaled Anani, to review the progress of Egypt’s nomination campaign. This meeting was part of Abdelatty’s ongoing efforts to monitor developments related to Egypt’s bid for the UNESCO position.
The discussion focused on the international support for Egypt’s nomination, with particular emphasis on the backing from France and Brazil, as confirmed by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf.
Anani also presented the results of his recent international tours, which included visits to key countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Africa. During these visits, he engaged with senior officials to understand their priorities regarding UNESCO’s work.
Anani expressed his gratitude to all state institutions, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt’s UNESCO delegation, and the Egyptian embassies worldwide, for their support and efforts in advancing his candidacy.
